What are Private Party Purchases?
Sales between individuals are transacted between private parties who wish to purchase and sell motor vehicles. When purchasing a vehicle from a private party, inspect the original title document for the individual’s name that is actually selling the vehicle. Anyone acting as agent for the seller or if the title displays an assignment only does not constitute clear title. For information concerning the latter, contact the agent or assignee’s county of legal residence.
