Registration Renewals

What is Registration Renewal?
Registration renewal is an annual process to update the validity of your vehicle’s plates. Colorado grants its residents a one month grace period to comply with annual renewal requirements.

Can I renew by mail?
The quickest way to process registration renewals is by mail. The renewal card has a blue sticker containing the county’s mailing address. Remove the sticker and place it on an envelope for mailing purposes. If emissions is required, you can put the emissions sticker in the place where you removed the blue sticker. Make checks payable to Manager of Revenue.

If you have not received your renewal you may contact our office (720) 865-4600 for the amount due, and mail your renewal to the following address:

Denver Motor Vehicle 4685 Peoria St, Suite 101 Denver, CO 80239

What if I change my address?
The reverse side of the card can be used to change your address if you move. If your new residence is in another county, you need to contact and mail the registration renewal to the new county of residence.

Where do I affix the month and year tabs, front or rear plate?
Both the month and year tabs are placed on the rear plate. The month tab must be placed on the bottom left corner and the year tab is placed on the bottom right corner of the plate.

What types of payment do you accept?
Fees are payable by cash or check only.
