Personalized Plates

Does a dash, space or period count as a character on a personalized plate?

Yes. Spaces, dashes, and periods do count as characters. They do not, however, change the plate configuration. For example: if plate [ABC] is taken, then plates [A B C], [A-B-C] and [A.B.C.] are also taken.
