Dedisse Park

Dedisse Park is a 420-acre tract of land on either side of Bear Creek, two miles west of Evergreen. In 1919, the City and County of Denver acquired the land owned by a pioneer named John Dedisse to construct a dam for flood control. The 35-foot high Evergreen Dam was completed in 1922, creating the 55-acre Evergreen Lake. Through an agreement with Denver, Evergreen operates a multi-purpose lodge at the edge of the lake. In 1925, land adjoining the park became Colorado’s first golf course in the mountains, Evergreen Golf Course. Facilities at Dedisse Park are a charcoal grill, picnic areas, a shelter house, 18-hole golf course and clubhouse with restaurant, volleyball, fishing, ice skating, and a multi-purpose concession building. The Denver Mountain Park system is on the National Register of Historic Places as a multiple properties listing. All parks are considered natural areas, and all wildlife and plants are protected and preserved.Dedisse Park is 27 miles west Denver and two miles west of Evergreen on Colorado State Highway 74.
