Welcome to Denver Parks

The City of Denver provides over 200 city and mountain parks, and several more rivers and trail areas  for the enjoyment of residents and visitors year round. Some of the parks also host major public events during the year such as, Cinco de Mayo, jazz concerts and more. From hikers, to volleyball players, to picnickers, bike riders and even the family dog, Denver’s parks serve our diverse citizens and neighborhoods with trees, flowers, trails, ponds or lakes, picnic areas, play grounds, activities and a variety of attractions and events.

Denver Mountain Parks
The system consists of 22 developed parks and 24 conservation/wilderness areas encompassing approximately 14,141 acres of mountain and foothills land owned by the City of Denver.
Forestry and Trees
The Forestry Office is the city agency responsible for trees and shrubs in public parks, parkways and around government buildings.
Natural Areas
Natural areas are special portions of open and undeveloped land. They tell us about the history of the land and region, its landscape, geology and people.
Water Conservation
The division Coordinates sustainable water management for Denver Parks and Recreation.

Rivers and Trails District
Urban trails throughout Denver include Cherry Creek, South Platte, Bear Creek, Lakewood Gulch and Sanderson Gulch. Parks within this district include Mestizo-Curtis, Confluence and Centennial Gardens Parks.
Host an Event
Hold your event at one of Denver Parks and Recreation’s four historic and architecturally exciting mountain lodges or park pavilions. These beautiful venues are available for intimate events of 100 to 350 people.
