Outdoor Recreation

Outdoor Recreation provides fun and exciting team building exercises through our state-of-the-art outdoor recreation courses , trails and outdoor adventures!


Genesee Ropes Course and Experiential Outdoor Center is located at Genesee Mountain Park, a 2,400 acre park only 30 minutes west of Denver. Our programs and staff work to reinforce the goals and mission of your group while instilling elements of self-esteem, teamwork, effective leadership, creative problem solving and self-discipline. Programs at Genesee are designed to incorporate Colorado Model Content Standards and focus on students learning team and group skills. Download brochure.

Outdoor Recreation also offers portable team-building programs. These programs arrive at your facility with our equipment and staff. We focus on activities and challenges that can be accomplished with varied groups and settings, so your group can get to know one another for the first time or further strengthen the community in your group.



Adults
Experience an astonishing hike with twelve other community members as you adventure through the stunning Rocky Mountains of Colorado during the summer and fall seasons! Excursions depart from various recreation centers throughout Denver on a fifteen passenger activity bus and are led by Outdoor Recreation staff. A fee of $20 per excursion includes transportation (from the designated recreation center) and trekking poles. To register for an excursion please contact Outdoor Recreation at 720-865-0680. Youth
Explore the riparian ecosystem of Beaver Brook or learn some Colorado natural history and ecology on a fun-filled trek through the wilderness in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. This program is designed for schools and organizations to register groups of students, elementary through high school. The level of difficulty ranges from easy to strenuous and various routes can be selected based on your group. This is a weekday ski and snowboard program that provides Denver youth (ages 7-17) an opportunity to develop snow-sport skills through group lessons at Winter Park Resort. Participants will receive lessons from Winter Park Ski and Ride School instructors for the day, teaching them how to ski or snowboard. A fee of $30 per program includes lift tickets, equipment rental, lessons, waterproof winter clothing and transportation. To register contact the recreation center of interest listed on the program flyer.

Join our weekend ski and snowboard club that provides Denver youth (middle school through high school) an opportunity to progressively develop snowsport skills through group lessons at Winter Park Resort, over a four week period. This program is structured for Denver Public Schools to apply for a session and if selected, create a group of 13 committed students. This program is not designed for individuals to register for the program individually through the recreation centers. Youth
Join our outdoor professionals on an exploratory trip to Mt. Evans Echo Lake for a fun, healthy and educational adventure through the beautiful Colorado Rocky Mountains. While traversing the mountain scenery, students will learn about winter adaptations, food webs, watersheds and conservation of the surrounding ecosystem. Ruby Hill Rail Yard, Denver’s one-of-a-kind urban terrain park for skiers and snowboarders, will open for its ninth season in early January 2015 (weather permitting). Located at the intersection of Platte River Drive and Jewell Avenue in Ruby Hill Park, the rail yard provides a FREE winter snowsport experience in an urban setting. Ruby Hill Rail Yard is an annual collaborative effort between Denver Parks and Recreation, Winter Park Resort and Christy Sports. The features consist of varying configurations and skill levels including a number of beginner-friendly boxes and rails. Free rental gear will also be available three days a week.
