Aggravated Robbery - 3rd & Elati - Update Friday, September 28, 2007 (10 reads)
Denver Police arrested Patrick Perez (DOB 11/04/87) on charges of Criminal Attempt 1st, Degree Murder (2 counts) 1st Degree Assault to an At Risk Adult and Aggravated Robbery. Perez is suspected of robbing the Third Avenue Market on September 26, 2007 where he shot the store owner and assaulted his wife in the commission of the robbery. Today Denver Police canvassed the area around 3rd and Elati Street showing photographs of the suspect. They were able to gather information about the suspect which led to the arrest of Patrick Perez tonight. Denver Police Department and Chief Gerald Whitman would like to thank the community and the media for their assistance in this investigation.

Aggravated Robbery - 3rd & Elati Wednesday, September 26, 2007 (616 reads)
The Third Avenue Market was robbed and the owners assaulted. The male victim was shot in the face. The female victim was kicked and struck in the head and body. The suspect entered the store he lingered inside the store getting some food and then coming to the counter. The suspect produced a small caliber handgun and demanded money from the male victim. Before the victim could respond, the suspect shot the victim in the face. The suspect jumped the counter and attempted to open the cash register. The female victim, who had been in the bathroom, comes out of the bathroom and attempts to flee out the front door of the business. The suspect points the gun at the female victim several times but doesn’t fire it. The suspect catches the female victim near the front door where he assaults her. The suspect runs out the front and then northbound on Elati St. from 3rd Ave. The suspect is known to frequent the area.

Foul Play Suspected in Disappearance of Child - Update Monday, September 24, 2007 (655 reads)
On Monday, September 24, 2007, at approximately 4:45 PM, members of the Denver Police Department found what they believe to be the body of Niveah Gallegos in a ravine near 11th Avenue and Perry Street. At this time all search efforts have been suspended and the investigation will continue with the processing the crime scene. Chief Gerald Whitman and the Denver Police Department would like to thank the media, officers, volunteers, and citizens that have put forth a great effort in this search.

Foul Play Suspected in Disappearance of Child Friday, September 21, 2007 (10 reads)
On September 21, 2007, members of the Denver Police Department began an investigation into a reported kidnapping occurring in the 1000 block of Cherokee Street. The victim is reportedly three-year-old Niveah Gallegos, (D.O.B. 8/1/2004). The victim’s mother reported that unknown suspects who left in a white, unknown make vehicle forcibly took the victim.
As a result of the investigation, a suspect has been identified as Angel Ray Montoya, (D.O.B. 1/19/1985) and is wanted for investigation of homicide. Niveah Gallegos remains missing and is believed the victim of foul play. Angel Montoya was last seen in the area of 1200 Logan Street.

NIJ Awards Grant to Denver Police Department Friday, September 21, 2007 (995 reads)
The Denver Police Department Crime Laboratory has been awarded a grant from the National Institute of Justice in the amount of $370,813 to develop advanced DNA aptamer-based methods for processing samples in sexual assault cases. This research will be conducted as part of a collaborative effort between the Denver Police Department Crime Laboratory and Somalogic, Inc. (Boulder, CO) – the leading developer of aptamer technologies. If successful, these new methods will reduce sexual assault case processing times from months to hours.

1555 South Yates Street Homicide Update Monday, September 17, 2007 (631 reads)
On September 16, 2007, members of the Denver Police Department responded to the location of 1555 S. Yates on a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, police located two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics transported the victims to DHMC where both later died because of their injuries. The victims have been identified as Jesus Garcia, D.O.B. 4/18/1980, and Inocencio Murillo-Gutierrez, D.O.B. 12/28/1973.

Double Homicide - 1565 S. Yates Sunday, September 16, 2007 (647 reads)
Approximately 12:30AM Denver Police received a call of shots being fired in the 1500 Block of Yates Street. When Officers arrived they found 2 male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Both men where taken to Denver Health Medical Center where they died a short time later. The victims’ appear to be Hispanic males in their late twenties to early thirties. Positive identification and is pending coroners notification and report.

Hit and Run - 400 Inca Street Thursday, September 13, 2007 (11 reads)
On September 10, 2007 at approximately 1:30 a.m. members of the Denver Police Department responded to the 400 block of N. Inca St. on report of a body in the street. The investigation revealed that the deceased was riding his bicycle and had obviously been struck by a motor vehicle. The deceased was later identified as Julio Chumacero-Garcia DOB: 08/24/1970.
Denver Police are asking for the assistance of the public to gather information about what happened to Julio Chumacero-Garcia. Anyone with information concerning this fatal accident is asked to call all Crime Stoppers at (720) 913-STOP (7867).

Pharmacy Burglaries Friday, September 07, 2007 (570 reads)
Denver Police are concerned about a recent string of burglaries that have occurred in grocery store pharmacies. The Burglar in each of the cases stole a large quantity of narcotics. On 07-27-2007, a burglary was reported at the Albertson’s Store located at 323 S. Broadway. It was discovered that in this burglary the suspect entered the store during normal business hours on 07-26-2007, and gained access into the false ceiling through one of the store’s bathrooms. The suspect remained inside the false ceiling throughout the night, moving from area to area and eventually climbing down into the pharmacy where a large quantity of Schedule II narcotics were taken.
