 How to Reserve a Vehicle Minimize
Employees may rent a city vehicle when it is necessary for conducting City business. Employees must complete a vehicle rental registration form.  Please see below for rental requirements before completing the online form.
 
Rental Requirements
  • Renters must have a valid Colorado Driver’s License and official City I.D.
  • Renters must have their agency’s permission to rent a vehicle from the Motor Center.

 
 Rental Rates Minimize

Rental charges will be billed to the agency fund-org identified at the time of registration. Customers are charged a 1/2 day rental fee when renting a vehicle for four hours or less. Full day rental charges apply to rentals that are more than four hours.

  • Customers are charged a 1/2 day rental fee when renting a vehicle for 4 hours or less.

  • No shows will be charged for the amount of time vehicle was reserved.
  • MotorCenter will try to work with customers to accommodate their needs bearing in mind that all requests may not be met. Requests are handled on a first come first served basis and the more notification we receive the greater the chances your request can be accommodated.

 
 Rules and Policies Minimize
  • All renters must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license.
  • Employees living in the State of Colorado for more than 30 days must show a valid Colorado driver's license to rent a vehicle.
  • It is the responsibility of the renter to immediately report all accidents, no matter how minor, to the Motor Center
    Supervisor at (720) 865-6880 and to Joe Rosales, Public Works Safety Analyst, at 303-446-3765.
  • It is the responsibility of the renter to immediately report any vehicle breakdown experienced while in possession of a
    City vehicle to the Motor Center Supervisor at (720) 865-6880.
  • When requesting a City vehicle for official business with the intent of keeping overnight to commute to and from an employee's home, please refer to Fiscal Accountability Rule 2.8 which can be found on the DOT website under Fiscal Accountability. 
  • Written approval from the Fleet Maintenance Director and the City's Risk Management Agency will be obtained before a City vehicle will be allowed out of the State.
  • Customers returning vehicles after 6:00pm, should place the vehicle key and returning paperwork in the drop box, located on a cement pillar on level P1 in the Motor Center parking area designated with a yellow sign.
  • Vehicle users are responsible for removing all items from cars.  This includes coffee cups, food and food wrappers, and personal items. Agencies may incur additional service charges associated with vehicle cleanup or neglect.

The City of Denver maintains a central fleet of 2,681 alternative vehicles co-managed by the Public Works and Safety Departments, and a satellite fleet of 872 vehicles at Denver International Airport, for a total fleet of 3,533 vehicles.
