The Technology, Support and Special Projects Division is responsible for the department's overall administration and special projects. The division is responsible for the implementation of all new projects directly affecting the department.  Current projects placed into action encompass the quest for the new Justice Center and the Jail Management System.  Division Chief Marie Kielar is in charge of the Technology, Support and Special Projects Division.

Units within the division include Administrative Services, Research and Development, Sheriff Information Technology Support, the Vehicle Impound Facility and the Training Academy.

Administrative Services have the responsibility of all Personnel and Payroll issues, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Purchasing. In addition, the Finance Group compiles the annual budget and performs the annual physical inventory for the department.

 
The Sheriff’s Information Technology Support Unit is responsible for providing hardware and software support for all Sheriff Department servers, workstations, laptop computers and Personal Data Assistant (PDA) devices. This includes computer desktop application support and user management for all employees of the Denver Sheriff Department. This unit works closely with other City agencies including Denver Office of Technology  ServicesDenver Integrated Criminal Justice and Safety (Technology Services), Denver County CourtDenver Police Department (DPD) and Denver Fire Department (DFD).
 
The Research and Development Unit provides updates for policies and procedures pertaining to the department.

The Training Academy is responsible for planning and developing training programs for the Sheriff Department, including both sworn and civilian employees. The Sheriff Academy also has the responsibility of maintaining training records, implementing and coordinating training programs, selecting instructors, and evaluating training programs.
