
As Director of Corrections and Undersheriff, William Lovingier is charged with directing and managing the Denver Sheriff Department, Colorado’s third largest criminal justice agency with over 800 personnel, which includes two different jails, security detail for the District and County court system, state inmate transportation and extradition duties, a Community Correction Facility, and security at Denver Health Medical Center.
In his 29 years with the Denver Sheriff Department, Lovingier worked his way up the ranks from Sheriff Deputy to Sergeant to Operations Captain to Operations Major to Division Chief. In these different roles, Lovingier has worked in numerous divisions of the Department including the Denver County Jail, the Pre-Arraignment Detention Facility, Denver Health Medical Center, Community Corrections and Work Release, Court Services and Civil Division, Internal Investigations and Civil Liability, and Technology, Support and Special Projects. In recent years, he has been the Department’s lead representative on the Denver Justice Center project.
Lovingier received an associate degree in criminal justice from Red Rocks Community College, a bachelors degree in criminal justice from Regis University and holds numerous specialized training certifications from local, state and federal organizations
