All-Mail Ballots in 2009
Voting Will be by Mail
The November 3, 2009 election will be conducted as an all-mail-ballot election. Ballots will be mailed out October 13-16, 2009 to all active voters and to all voters who have been marked as inactive for failing to vote in 2008.

Do We Have Your Correct Address?
Ballots are not forwarded! If you have had a recent address change, please use this link to the Secretary of State website to look up your address on file and make sure it is current. The deadline to make changes to your voter record prior to the November 3 election is now past. Therefore if you discover your updated address is not on file with us, you will need to come to a service center for a ballot. Bring a valid ID.

Voter Service Centers
Denver will have two full-service voter service centers available for walk-in service for the November 2009 election:
  • Denver Elections Division, 3888 E. Mexico Ave.
  • Wellington Webb Building, Atrium, 201 W. Colfax Ave.
Service center operating hours:
  • 8 a.m. – 6 p.m., Mon., Oct. 26 – Sat., Oct. 31
  • 8 a.m. – 6 p.m., Mon., Nov. 2
  • 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., Election Day, Tue., Nov. 3
At a service center, you may:
  • drop off your ballot
  • obtain a replacement for a lost or spoiled ballot
  • vote provisionally
  • emergency register, if you are qualified.
The Denver Elections Division offices will also be available for voter services prior to October 26 during normal business hours, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Both locations are fully accessible.

Election results will be available on election night here at www.DenverVotes.org and on Denver 8 TV.

Mail Back, Drop Off, Drive Through
Mail Back
The postage to mail your ballot back is 61 cents. Your voted ballot must be received by the Denver Elections Division by 7 p.m. on Election Day in order to be counted. An Election Day postmark will not be honored if your ballot is received after Election Day.

Drop Off
If you prefer, you may drop off your ballot at either of the two service centers during operation hours. You may drop your ballot off at the Denver Elections Division during normal business hours prior to October 26.

Drive Through
The Denver Elections Division will have a staffed drive-through ballot drop off available on the street out in front of its offices during its service center days and hours (see above).

Special Voting Situations
Provisional Voting
The federal Help America Vote Act mandates that no voter be turned away without the ability to cast a ballot. Whenever a voter’s registration, identification or residency is in question, the voter is given a ballot nevertheless.

This voted and sealed ballot is then marked "provisional" and segregated from other ballots. After Election Day, the voter registrations of provisional ballots are researched. If a registration is deemed valid, the ballot is counted. If deemed invalid, the ballot is not counted.

For the November 3, 2009 mail ballot election, a provisional ballot may be obtained at either of the two voter service centers during their normal hours of operation.

Overseas Voters
Citizens living outside the U.S., including members of the military and their spouses and dependents, are eligible to vote in Denver by mail if they are registered, and if Denver was their last domestic address.

For more information, see the Colorado Secretary of State's Guide for Uniformed and Overseas Electors. Also, the U.S. government offers a wealth of information for the overseas voter.
