 Identification Requirements Minimize
Under Colorado law, you are required to produce any one of the following forms of identification in order to register to vote in person or to vote in person. You are also required to include a copy of one of the forms of ID below in your mail ballot if you are a first-time voter and you registered by mail or without presenting ID in person. (If you are required to include ID in your mailed ballot, this will be indicated on your ballot.)
  • A valid Colorado driver's license (a suspended license is considered valid; a revoked or expired license is not)

  • A valid Colorado Department of Revenue identification card, in accordance with Part 3 of Article 2 of Title 42, C.R.S.

  • A valid U.S. passport

  • A valid pilot's license issued by the Federal Aviation Administration

  • A valid employee identification with a photograph issued by the U.S. government, Colorado state government, or any county, municipality, board, authority, or other political subdivision of the state

  • A valid U.S. military identification card with photograph

  • A copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document that shows the elector's name and address (examples: a cable bill; a telephone bill; documentation from a public institution of higher education in Colorado containing at least the name, date of birth, and legal residence address of the student elector; or a paycheck from a government institution are sufficient forms of ID)

  • A valid Medicare or Medicaid card

  • A certified copy of a U.S. birth certificate

  • Certified documentation of naturalization

  • A valid student identification card with photograph of the eligible elector issued by an institute of higher education in Colorado, as defined in Section 23-3.1-1-2(5), C.R.S.

Some forms of identification may not contain an address. If the address appears on the identification, the address must be in Colorado.
