The Denver Police Department uses driving simulators for recruit and in-service training. Simulators help with developing and assessing decision making, enabling training staff to evaluate students in computer-generated situations that are too dangerous or impractical to replicate using actual vehicles. Simulators used by the Denver Police Department are capable of generating different weather and driving conditions including rain, snow, rural, and urban environments. In conjunction with actual driving track practice, simulators increase the quality and realism of police training.
