The Denver Explorer Scouts, POST 83 calls the DPD Academy home. This group of young people, ranging in age from 14 to 20, meet at the academy every Wednesday evening.  This program is mentored by police officers and deputy sheriffs from the Denver Police and Sheriff's Departments.
 

Explorers receive a variety of classroom and scenario based instruction from their mentors in law enforcement. They also participate in community service programs as part of scout training.  Explorers may be authorized to ride with Denver police officers on patrol.

 

This program fosters enlightenment and trust between young people and the Denver Police Department, helps young people make educated career decisions and helps prepare the next generation of law enforcement officers.
