Implementation of Street Modifications Continues
The next round of street traffic modifications resulting from the recommendations of the Central Denver Transportation Study (CDTS) were installed during the first week of August, 2000.

The solutions selected for this round of modifications are to emphasize the neighborhood character of the streets. Several one way streets will be modified to reduce the number of traffic lanes and to increase on street parking.  The modifications will be installed on the following streets:

  • Washington Street from 6th Avenue to Speer Blvd.--One lane of traffic with parking on both sides of the street
  • Clarkson/Emerson Streets from Speer Blvd to 8th Ave--One lane of traffic with parking on both sides of the street
  • Corona Street from 8th Ave to Speer Blvd-- One lane of traffic with parking on both sides of the street
  • Downing Street from Speer Blvd to 8th Ave--One lane of traffic with parking on both sides of the street

Following these modifications traffic studies including traffic counts, speed studies, traffic accident conditions, and intersection operations analysis will be conducted to determine what changes in traffic characteristics have occurred following these modifications.
