Election Day voting hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. There are 185 assigned precinct polling places for the 2008 elections. Each polling place will serve one to five precincts. Polling places tend to change from year to year, and where you voted historically may not be where you will vote in 2008.
NOTE: If you have moved since October 6, 2008, use your former address to look up your polling place. You will vote in your former precinct.
You will also receive notifications in the mail containing your precinct and voting location information for both elections:
- Primary Election, August 12
- General Election, November 4
Heavy Turnout Expected
Record numbers of voters are expected to vote this Election Day. Some tips to facilitate your day:
- Walk or use mass transit to avoid possible parking problems.
- Vote during the nonpeak hours of 9-11 a.m. or 1-5 p.m.
- Make your choices ahead of time, mark them on this Voting Reminder Sheet, and bring the sheet with you to the polls to use as a reference. The Voting Reminder Sheet is meant to be used for your personal reference, and is not an official ballot.
Withdrawn Ballot Issues
Amendments 53, 55, 56 and 57 have been withdrawn from the ballot, but not soon enough to meet ballot printing deadlines. Some voters who are on the mail-in ballot list will receive a ballot that includes these amendments. The ballots that will be in use during early voting and on Election Day will see a ballot that has the word "WITHDRAWN" printed across each of these four ballot issues.
Denver's ballot counting scanners have been reprogrammed to ignore any votes on these four ballot issues. Any votes on these issues will not be counted.
Vote Model Background
The 2008 voting model was
developed through a public process. The recommendation from this process was to use paper ballots in 2008 and to go back to the use of precinct polling places. At least one electronic touch-screen voting machine will be available at each voting location to comply with the Federal
Help America Vote Act.
