"The power of the Web is in its universality.
Access by everyone regardless of disability is an essential aspect."

- Tim Berners-Lee, W3C Director and Inventor of the World Wide Web

The City and County of Denver is committed to providing equal access to its electronic information technologies and services for citizens, employees and visitors, including those with disabilities. As the World Wide Web has become an essential means by which we provide information to and conduct transactions with our community, our goal is to provide information and services in ways that work effectively for all.

We have developed this educational reference which outlines our approach to accessible Web design. These guidelines are a core part of an ongoing initiative that encompasses not only Web-based information and services, but also hardware and software that is developed, purchased or acquired by the City and County of Denver, and environments in which technology is used or deployed, such as resource centers, kiosks, workplaces, etc. As the initiative progresses, this Web site will be updated.
