Broadway Reconstruction Project (Wesley to Iowa)

Denver Public Works will be hosting a public information meeting regarding the design phase of the Broadway reconstruction project between Wesley Ave. and Iowa Ave. on Wednesday, May 13, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The meeting will take place at the John Collins United Methodist Church, 2320 S. Bannock St. in Denver. Citizens will be provided with an overview of the project and outline of the anticipated timeline followed by a Q&A session.
Broadway reconstruction is planned from Yale Ave. to Arizona Ave., split into three separate projects. Construction on the first segment between Arizona and Iowa will begin this summer, and construction on the second segment between Yale and Wesley will begin later this year. The Wesley to Iowa portion is the third segment, currently in design phase with construction expected to begin in late 2010 or early 2011.
Planned infrastructure improvements include:
- New concrete pavement
- Widening the roadway by 5-6 feet on each side
- Enhancing safety and function of intersections
- Installing medians, turn lanes, new traffic signals, utility upgrades, major drainage and storm sewer improvements, sidewalks & ADA ramps, and new street lighting
Planned streetscape improvements include:
- Raised planting area,
- Colored, patterned concrete in the median
- Irrigation system in the median
- Irrigation sleeves for future tree plantings

The Broadway reconstruction project is being funded through a combination of Better Denver Bond program funds and Federal transportation grants. The Better Denver Bond program calls for the improvement, preservation, renovation and creation of the many city amenities that touch our lives - including new roads, libraries, parks, hospitals, public safety and cultural facilities.
