Colfax-Galapago-Welton Intersection

Denver Public Works will soon begin re-configuring the US 40 (Colfax Avenue)/Galapago/Welton intersection, shifting Welton Street eastward to align with Galapago Street. This redesign will create a 90-degree angle between Welton Street and Colfax Avenue, providing much-needed safety and operational improvements for motorists and pedestrians.

Motorists traveling northbound on Speer Boulevard will have more direct access into downtown Denver, as Galapago Street will be converted from a two-way street to a one-way street heading northbound. Additional work will include new roadway construction; both concrete and asphalt paving; new traffic signals and sidewalks.
