South Platte River/Zuni/Sun Valley Reach/Lower Lakewood Gulch Reconstruction Project


PROJECT SUMMARY


The South Platte River-Zuni/Sun Valley Reach portion of the project will widen and lower approximately 3,400 feet of the river, reconstruct the multi-use trail along the west bank of the river, construct a grade separated trail crossing under the 13th Avenue Bridge, construct three drop structures, revegitate the river corridor with native vegetation, lower two Denver Water conduits, remove the existing inflatable dam at the Xcel Zuni Power Plant and construct a surface water diversion structure that will allow the Xcel Zuni Power Plant to pull cooling water from the river.
 
The Lower Lakewood Gulch portion of the project will realign, widen and lower approximately 1,600 feet of Lakewood Gulch, reconstruct a multi-use trail along the north side of the gulch, construct two pedestrian bridges, construct two drop structures, construct a protection structure over a existing 50-inch brick sanitary sewer pipe, revegetate the gulch corridor with native vegetation and remove the existing City of Denver Decatur shops buildings.
