The Clerk and Recorder is an elected office created by a Denver Charter amendment in 2007. Prior to this the Clerk and Recorder was an appointed position.

Recording is responsible for the timely recording of all crucial documents submitted to the Clerk and Recorder's office.
The Marriage Licenses/Civil Union Licenses desk issues these licenses and records marriage and civil union certificates.
