(Denver) – Clerk and Recorder Stephanie O’Malley announced today the appointment of Richard C. Dewar as Deputy Clerk and Recorder. Dewar fills the vacancy left by Helen Gonzales who retired at the end of 2010 after 36 years of service.
“Richard has been invaluable to the Clerk and Recorder’s Office over the last eight years, and I am confident that he will continue to contribute to the office and grow in his new role as deputy,” said Clerk O’Malley. “He has worked for the agency with increasing responsibilities through the years, and has a thorough understanding of our operations. Richard brings private industry experience to the table in terms of procurement and project management, and has been pivotal in our efforts to reorganize and strengthen our operations since I took office in 2007.”
Dewar started with the Clerk and Recorder’s Office in 2002 in the Public Trustee division. During the last 3½ years, he has performed exceptionally as Supervisor of the Recording Division , including oversight of the recording of upwards of a million real estate and other documents presented for recording and preservation over that period. He has also coordinated a number of major projects involving the conversion of large collections of paper records to electronic formats.
Since beginning his career almost 30 years ago, Dewar has worked in a range of industries in sales, procurement, vendor relations, project management and technology. His business experience includes working for organizations such as Charles Schwab & Co. Inc., Lockheed Martin Astronautics, the Rocky Mountain News and Kraft Inc. Retail Food Group. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Colorado State University.
