Mail ballot election means more than 346,000 ballots will be mailed to voters
(Denver) – Mail ballots will start arriving in Denver voters’ mailboxes this weekend. The November 3 Coordinated Election is an all-mail ballot election so ballots are automatically sent to all eligible voters. The ballot will contain races for Denver Public School Board members and a City and County of Denver ballot question on an initiated ordinance. Sample ballots as well as school district boundary maps are available on the Denver Elections Division website, and can be found at www.denvervotes.org.
For the first time, ballots are being printed in Denver instead of out-of-state. “Printing the ballots locally provides an opportunity for us to more closely oversee the printing process and keep taxpayer dollars in Colorado,” said Stephanie O’Malley, Denver Clerk and Recorder. “We also save the freight costs by having the ballots printed in Denver.”
Voters can return their voted ballots by mail or in person. The return postage for a mail ballot is 61 cents. Voters who choose to drop their ballots off in person can bring them to the Elections Division lobby at 3888 E. Mexico Ave. or the atrium of the Wellington Webb Building at 201 W. Colfax Ave. between the hours of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, October 26 – Saturday, October 31, or on Monday, November 2.
The hours on Election Day, November 3, will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. In addition to being able to drop off ballots in the lobby of these facilities, a drive through ballot drop-off will also be available at the Elections Division on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Voters should make sure to deposit their ballots in an attended red ballot box only. Voters should not leave their ballots at any unsecured location or drop them off outside of the posted hours of operation. Voters can log onto www.denvervotes.org to confirm that their voted ballot has been received by the Elections Division.
