Civil Unions

May 15 Update - We have issued 500 civil union licenses and marriage licenses in the first two weeks of May, the traditional marriage month. News release posted.

May 1 update - We issued 114 civil unions union licenses at the midnight event. Completed number 114 at 5:30 this morning. We stayed open as long as there were couples wanting a civil union license. We estimate 85 civil union ceremonies took place out in the atrium of the Webb bldg. Kudus to all the judges and religious officiants who stayed all night long to conduct the ceremonies.

The Office of the Clerk and Recorder will begin issuing civil union licenses on May 1. There will be a midnight event at the Wellington E. Webb Municipal Office Building on May 1 to celebrate the start of civil unions, and the Clerk and Recorder's office will be open from midnight to 3 a.m. to issue civil union licenses beginning at 12:01 a.m.

Coming Up

  • 10/18/12 - 185,000 ballots have been mailed to voters who requested them and another 43,000 will be sent by weeks end.
  • 10/17/12 - Mail ballots hit the General Mail Facility today. Ballots go out in batches over the coming days so voters will get them at different times.
  • 10/10/12 - 196,560 letters have been sent to active voters who will receive a mail ballot for the November 6 General Election asking them to review the address to which their ballot will be mailed. Ballots are not forwardable.
  • 10/1/12 - More than 10,000 letters are being sent to voters who the United States Postal says moved to a new address. This gives voters a chance to update their voter registration records.
  • 9/10/12 - Denver's new online campaign finance reporting system is now available for active campaigns and issue groups in Denver. This system was designed to increase the ease and efficiency of complying with Denver's campaign finance ordinance.
  • 8/24/12 - 8,926 letters were sent to Inactive Failed to Vote voters who were removed from the permanent mail-in ballot list.
  • 8/3/12 - 1,549 letters were recently sent to military and overseas voters regarding how to maintain their voting status and how to obtain a ballot for the General Election.
