May 15 Update - We have issued 500 civil union licenses and marriage licenses in the first two weeks of May, the traditional marriage month. News release posted.
-------
May 1 update - We issued 114 civil unions union licenses at the midnight event. Completed number 114 at 5:30 this morning. We stayed open as long as there were couples wanting a civil union license. We estimate 85 civil union ceremonies took place out in the atrium of the Webb bldg. Kudus to all the judges and religious officiants who stayed all night long to conduct the ceremonies.
The Office of the Clerk and Recorder will begin issuing civil union licenses on May 1. There will be a midnight event at the Wellington E. Webb Municipal Office Building on May 1 to celebrate the start of civil unions, and the Clerk and Recorder's office will be open from midnight to 3 a.m. to issue civil union licenses beginning at 12:01 a.m.
News media contact for the May 1 event is Nancy Reubert.
