LOOK: Civic Center Station is almost ready for the masses

The new facility boasts some sleek new outdoor shelters that officials say are meant to mimic the iconic coverings at Union Station. The terminal’s new sign at Broadway and 16th Avenue is visible all the way down the 16th Street Mall, similar to the Union Station sign’s presence above 17th Street. Downtown Denver’s two central corridors are now bookended by transportation signs.

Lyft teams with Denver’s Guild Education to offer discounts on college, education to drivers

Through Denver-based Guild Education, Lyft drivers can get tuition discounts of 5 to 20 percent at more than 80 universities, including the University of Denver and online learning site edX, which was founded by Harvard University and MIT in 2012. Courses through Guild also are discounted about 25 to 35 percent below the national average, the company said.

With showers, sidewalk storage units and beds instead of floor mats, Denver has opened three new homeless shelters that try to provide a more welcoming option for those seeking to come in from the cold. It’s even taking steps to find shelter for pets that often can’t accompany their homeless owners.
