Fine District 9 News - December Edition

It’s hard to believe that 2017 is coming to an end. It seems like just yesterday we were setting our Policy and Budget Priorities for the year. 2017 might be over, but we didn’t want you to forget all that we’ve been able to accomplish together. It is always good to reflect about the last year before we move to the next, so in this newsletter edition we’ve highlighted some of the good work happening in the FINE District 9.

RTD Civic Center Station to reopen Dec. 17 after $31 million renovation

The station closed during summer 2016 so the Regional Transportation District could undertake a $31 million renovation of the center, leaving a building that’s easier to maintain and repair, nine bus bays and a more open and welcoming design. Civic Center Station is set to reopen for full-service Sunday, Dec. 17.

Denver tests driverless shuttle for first mile-last mile transit connection

Governor Hickenlooper has been pushing hard to make sure his state is on the forefront of the autonomous vehicle (AV) trend. State legislators recently passed a law legalizing AV travel on Colorado's roads, as long as operators obey all of the existing rules of the road. Denver is among the many municipalities working to add driverless shuttles.
