Denver Motor Vehicle Division Eliminates Credit Card Fee for Vehicle Owners

The Denver Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has made paying for vehicle titling, registration, and registration renewals more affordable and even easier for consumers. Beginning on January 1, 2015, the city eliminated the 2.7 percent service charge on credit card payments for drivers renewing their vehicle registration with the city.

Denver receives 34th consecutive national award for financial reporting

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) awarded the City and County of Denver with a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, the 34th consecutive year that Denver has received this prestigious award. The award is for Denver’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2013.

Voter-approved funding increase benefiting the Denver Preschool Program to take effect January 1

The funding increase approved by Denver voters in the November election to expand the Denver Preschool Program is set to take effect January 1, 2015. Referred measure 2A, which reauthorized the original funding source for the Denver Preschool Program and authorized a .03 percent increase, will allow the Denver Preschool Program to continue the program for another 10 years as well as expand programming, reach more preschool students and reduce costs for families through an increase in monthly tuition support.

The City and County of Denver Sales and Use Tax Standard rate will increase from 3.62% to 3.65% effective January 1, 2015

Businesses should begin preparation to their systems to ensure collection of the proper amount of tax.
