2017 DEVO Volunteer Events

April 29th and 30th: Doors Open Denver - the Denver Architectural Foundation (DAF) inspires the community to connect through tours of our city's unique spaces, including high-profile, historic, and/or artistic feats of architecture and design.  Volunteer by helping groups navigate through their tours.

May 7th: Furry Scurry - walk or run with your dog to raise funds for the Denver Dumb Friends League.

May 13th: Denver Bacon and Beer Festival - Serve drinks, food, sell merchandise, and ID/wristband at the entrance to this unique event celebrating bacon and beer.

May 20th: Community Day - A large event for vounteers to work on facility improvement projects including landscaping, indoor and outdoor painting, and general cleaning in support of Amp the Cause.  Breakfast, snacks, and transportation from Sculpture Park provided.

May 19th, 20th, and 21st: Colfax Marathon - Volunteer individually or with a group to help make this annual race a success. T-shirt provided. 

May 27th: Day of Rock - A unique music festival spread across the 16th Street Mall which unites the community to raise funds for local children's charities.

June 3rd: Denver Brain Tumor Walk

June 17th and 18th: Denver City Amateur Golf Tournament - Earn a free round of golf by volunteering for a 5 hour shift 

June 28th: Bike To Work Day - Come meet some of the DEVO Board Members in Civic Center Park 

July 1st, 2nd, 3rd: Cherry Creek Arts Festival - Volunteers at the Cherry Creek Arts Festival get an exclusive, behind-the-scenes appreciation of the artists and art that make the Festival so enticing and fun.  T-shirts and meal token provided.

July 21st-29th: Festival of Cheese - For the first time in 34 years the American Cheese Society will be bringing this premier industry event to Denver.  Volunteer by receiving, sorting, and preparing cheese. Complimentary Festival ticket, T-shirt, and shift meals provided.

August 5th-13th: Denver Days

August 19th, 2017: Paint-A-Thon (in partnership with Brothers Redevelopment Inc.) - Volunteer for a day by painting the home of an elderly or disabled Denver resident.  Breakfast and lunch provided.  DEVO will be painting their 100th home this year! To celebrate this milestone we will meet at Blue Moon Brewing after we finish painting for the day. 

September 1st, 2017: Rocky Mountain Showdown between CU and CSU.  Purchase your ticket for $30 using the code 2017DPS and a portion of the proceeds will go to Denver Public Schools.  

September 19th, 2017: Project Homeless Connect needs volunteers for this one-day event which offers families experiencing homelessness access to vital services such as housing services, resume workshops, clothing banks, veterens services, vision and health services.

September 23rd, 2017:  The annual Graffiti Brush Off and Litter Clean Up needs volunteers of all ages to help pick up litter and paint out graffiti vandalism along the Federal Blvd corridor.

September 23rd - October 14th, 2017: Every Saturday morning volunteers will plant trees and flowers for Westwood residents for The Park People non-profit organization.  These trees will provide over $200,000 in community benefits including energy savings, carbon offsets, cleaner air and water, flood reduction, and enhanced property value.

October 1st - October 31st, 2017: Complete one pet-related Random Act of Kindness during the month of October and post about it on social media using the tags #ProjectPetRAK and #SavingDobermankind.  Every act of kindness will earn this local 501c(3) rescue much needed dog food!  Some ideas include buying an item for the person behind you in line at the store, donating blankets or towels to a local shelter, have a ball drive at your office to collect tennis balls for a local shelter, offer to walk your neighbor's dog, play with kittens or puppies at the local shelter.  

October 4th-9th and October 12th-15th: The U.S. Department of Energy challenges collegiate teams during the Energy Solar Decathlon to deisgn and build full size, energy efficient, solar powered homes.  They are looking for greeters, visitor liaisons, docents, water delivery assistants, and registration volunteers to help in showcasing this unique competition.

October 5th-7th: Great American Beer Festival - Volunteer by wristbanding attendees and directing them through the Festival.  Two tickets to the 2018 GABF will be provided to each volunteer.  Please contact us early on at DEVO@denvergov.org to secure a volunteer spot as they do fill up quickly!
