In Denver, nearly one out of every six households experience food insecurity, and roughly one in five children suffers from hunger. Whether due to lack of income, lack of access to healthy food, or lack of knowledge of resources and help available, Denver residents are going hungry when they shouldn’t. To address this gap, the City and County of Denver is working with community partners to identify barriers and to explore effective ways to connect people with the food necessary to live better, healthier lives.

Forty-four Denver children, previously in foster or kinship care, today officially gained their “forever homes” by having their adoptions finalized as part of the 13th annual Denver Adoption Day festivities at the Lindsey-Flanigan Courthouse.

With three brand new facilities now open, Denver and its partners are prepared to shelter more than a thousand people without homes each night this winter. The City and County of Denver, through Denver’s Road Home, provides $2.9 million annually to support emergency shelter services. The city works with a network of providers to house, shelter and support people experiencing homelessness in Denver year-round.
