Hundreds of Denver residents donated more than 1,000 gallons of hygiene items to help those in need during the first GIVE Denver Spring Showers Hygiene Drive which was held April 27 through May 8.

For those experiencing homelessness or struggling to make ends meet, it can be difficult to obtain even basic hygiene items. Each year, the GIVE Denver Center at Denver Human Services provides hundreds of simple hygiene items like soap, shampoo or toothpaste to more than a thousand people in need. That’s why GIVE Denver is asking the community to donate hygiene items to those in need through the First Annual Spring Showers Hygiene Drive from April 27 through May 8, 2015. Monetary donations are also accepted.

Surrounded by dozens of community partners and child advocates, Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock today proclaimed April “Help Kids Soar – Child Abuse Prevention Month” in Denver. Each year, Denver Human Services joins agencies, nonprofits and businesses across the city to recognize April as national child abuse prevention month by displaying blue and silver pinwheels as a reminder of our commitment to helping kids soar by strengthening families and keeping kids safe.

Wear PJ’s and skate for a chance to win two roundtrip tickets on Southwest Airlines
PJ clad ice skaters will take over the Southwest Rink at Skyline Park on Wednesday, February 4 as Southwest Airlines and the Downtown Denver Partnership join forces with Denver’s Road Home to kick off the 10th Annual PJ Day. PJ Day is Denver’s annual fundraising event to support Denver’s Road Home and draws attention to the fact that not everyone has a place to put on their PJ’s and sleep each night. This year’s PJ Day kick-off event at the Southwest Rink at Skyline Park will feature open skating and a most creative PJ’s contest. The ice skater with the most creative PJ’s will win a pair of roundtrip tickets on Southwest Airlines.
