On Saturday, July 23rd, Denver Partners Against Graffiti sponsored the “Brush Off” at Barnum Park. Hundreds of volunteers, children, adults, and lots of City Employees from various departments joined forces, braved the heat — 99 degrees in the shade — to spruce up the Federal Boulevard corridor in Denver!
Volunteers were equipped with spray cans and buckets of paint erasing graffiti vandalism, and kids were eager to spray tags off of bus benches and poles. Push brooms, dustpans and trash grabbers were in full swing collecting lots of little litter that was tossed out of car windows.
Thanks to the behind the scenes employees from Solid Waste Management, the Graffiti Abatement Team, Teams from the Denver District Attorneys’ Office, Right of Way, Wastewater Management, Department of Human Services, Technology Services, ongoing support from the City Attorneys’ Office-Prosecution Team, Commander Fleecs and Officer Blakesley from the District 4 police station who served as Team Leaders.
Thanks to the many community volunteers who donated their time, and to our Sponsors: Albertsons, Frito Lay, Home Depot #1505, and the Pepsi Beverage Company.
The Brush Off was successful event, many partnerships were built and at the end of the day the Federal Boulevard corridor was revitalized and uplifted by volunteers who joined the “Brush Off” because they wanted to make a difference!
