Happy Eid al-Fitr from Mayor Michael B. Hancock

Michael B. Hancock, Monday, June 26, 2017

On behalf of myself and the City and County of Denver, we would like to wish Muslims in Denver and across the state of Colorado a happy Eid al-Fitr.

Eid al-Fitr is the celebration that marks the end of Ramadan, the holiest month in the religion of Islam. It is a month when Muslims across the world fast from dawn to sundown to strengthen their religious connection to God and mankind, increase patience and compassion, and empathize with and aid those less-fortunate.

These values are not only celebrated during Ramadan by Muslims but during the entire year by all the people of Denver as we welcome people of all faiths and lack thereof, people of all creeds and all backgrounds to our wonderful city.

It is incumbent upon us all to come together and build a family as one united community and oppose the hate and discrimination that tries to divide us.

Let us remember and embody these values and continue to share them with those around us through Ramadan, Eid and the rest of the year to come.

Eid Mubarak.

Respectfully,
Michael B. Hancock
Mayor
