Contest Rules

 

The entry period has ended for the 2018 Poster & Essay contest.

Open to Students in Grades 3 to 8.

POSTER CONTEST

BE CREATIVE! Help us by designing a poster that encourages citizens to report graffiti vandalism in Denver.

Artwork must be FLAT (drawn or painted). Use materials that will not smear—pencil, pen, paint, etc. Poster will be judged on originality, creativity and how well the artwork relates to the theme.

ESSAY CONTEST

Think about the questions below. Write an essay describing how you feel about graffiti and how you can help keep your community graffiti free.

  • Where do you see graffiti in your city or around your school?
  • How does it make you feel when you see graffiti vandalism?
  • What can YOU do to help prevent graffiti vandalism?
  • How can you report graffiti?

TEACHERS

POSTERS AND ESSAYS MUST INCLUDE ALL OF THE WORDS BELOW:

  • PocketGov.org

  • 11 inches wide (across the top)
  • 17 inches long (down the side) with a 2 inch blank border along the bottom! (other layouts will be disqualified)

ESSAY MUST BE:

  • Typed (12 pt. font size) or printed legibly on 8.5" x 11" paper 150–250 words (grades 3–5) / 300–500 words (grades 6–8)

ALL POSTER AND ESSAY ENTRIES MUST INCLUDE ON THE BACK SIDE:

  • Student's name
  • Grade level
  • Teacher's name
  • School name
