Mayor Hancock Statement on President's Executive Order to Slow Clean Energy and Climate Progress

DENVER – Mayor Michael B. Hancock today released the following statement in response to the President’s new Executive Order rolling back clean energy and climate policies:

“We have a responsibility to protect and preserve our quality of life in Denver, and that means taking aggressive steps to combat climate change. We will not shrink from that responsibility. This issue calls for actions now, not inactions that will only slow progress and increase risk to our people here and around the world. Denver and Colorado have been leaders in combating climate change, as well as leaders in growing the clean energy economy. No matter what, we will continue that leadership role. We will continue to aggressively pursue our goal of reducing emissions 80% by 2050. We will continue supporting the creation of good paying jobs in clean energy. And we will continue to act with our eyes on the future.”
