On Thursday, Dec. 7, the Kiewit RiNo Integrated Construction (IC) team proudly dressed up in ugly holiday sweaters and sponsored a luncheon for the entire IC team including, Ames Construction, the City and County of Denver and subcontractors. As part of the team’s commitment to the community in which they work, all attendees were encouraged to bring donations for the local U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program before enjoying a delicious barbecue lunch.
Kiewit chose Toys for Tots because of the project team’s strong relationship with local developer, Larry Burgess, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. By working closely together and maintaining positive relations throughout construction thus far, Burgess provided his donation warehouse on Brighton Boulevard for the event.
Two active duty U.S. Marine Corps attended to speak on behalf of the organization and expressed gratitude for the team’s donations, and enjoyed some BBQ with the team as well.
Kiewit, Ames, the City and County of Denver and subcontractors donated a combined total of approximately $5,000 in toys for Toys for Tots. The team enjoyed a holiday celebration while giving back to the community.
