During the 2017 State of the City & Community Cookout in July, Mayor Michael B. Hancock announced the creation of a first-of-its-kind Community Investment Fund as part of the future National Western Center. This fund will ensure this city asset and its activities directly invests into its surrounding neighborhoods for the foreseeable future.
A Community Investment Fund has several benefits. The fund is created based on a program at the future campus that generates funds. It empowers a community driven process allowing the neighbors of Globeville, Elyria, and Swansea to decide how the funds are used. It has a direct impact in the community and provides public accountability that supports the local communities.
The creation of this fund is a direct result of your feedback. As the National Western Center redevelopment progresses, we will work together to create the foundation for this Community Investment Fund. Details of this fund have not been created and we will need your help to build the right program. Stay tuned!
