Police Athletic League equipment drive

The Denver Police Department is partnering with several local businesses to provide sports equipment to under-privileged youth. Children who donate used equipment will be recognized during a ceremony that will be held on Monday, August 6, 2012 at 3:00 pm at the Denver Police Athletic League located at 1240 West Bayaud Avenue, Denver CO.

Officer involved shooting

On Tuesday, July 31, 2012, Denver Police Officers responded to the Niagara House Motel located at 6701 E. Colfax Ave. on a report of a party with a gun. Upon arrival the Officers arrested the party on a warrant, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a weapon.

Hit and Run - 1700 block of Sheridan Blvd

On July 27, 2012, at 9:11 a.m. officers responded to the 1700 block of North Sheridan Blvd. on an Auto vs. Pedestrian accident. The pedestrian was crossing at mid-block in the 1700 block and was struck by an unknown vehicle which was traveling northbound at the time of the collision. Witnesses at the scene could not provide any information regarding the hit and run vehicle. No evidence was obtained at the scene which provided any information regarding the suspect vehicle...

Thieves preying on the elderly

The Denver Police Department is investigating three more burglary cases targeting the elderly. There were two burglaries in the City Park North neighborhood Friday, July 6th and one the day before. In the first case the suspect contacted the victim and related there was a problem with some work being done on the house behind hers and asked the victim to come outside into the backyard. While the victim and suspect were outside, a second suspect entered the victim’s residence and searched for valuables. Fireworks are illegal in Denver. Every year numerous complaints, injuries and fires are associated with the unlawful use of fireworks in Denver. Police imposter by phone

It has been brought to the attention of the Denver Police Department that someone impersonating a Denver Police Officer is attempting to get money from unsuspecting individuals. This imposter is calling the victim on the phone stating he is a Denver Police Sergeant. He demanded money from the victim and threatened to bring the victim up on charges if he did not pay. The imposter stated the victim owed $3,000.00 on his loan but it could be settled if the victim paid the DPD $300... Read more
