Denver Police Department Wins Prestigious Awards

DENVER, CO – Thursday, April 23, 2015 – The Denver Police Department is pleased to announce that it is the winner of four regional Edward R. Murrow awards for three videos highlighting the department.  The Radio Television Digital News Association recognizes excellence in journalism annually with the Edward R. Murrow awards. 

“We are honored to be recognized by such a distinguished organization for our efforts in communicating to our community,” said Robert White, Chief of Denver Police. “Use of video is another means of transparency and we will continue to utilize high quality videos and other innovative means so that our citizens are aware of the amazing work our officers do on a daily basis.”

The Denver Police Department Media Relations Unit was awarded the following awards in Region Three  Non-Broadcast Affiliated Organizations Small Online News Organization:

·         Video Feature Reporting for Active Shooter: It's Not a Matter of If

·         Video Documentary for An Officer’s Life at 5280: Coach Sloan

·         Video Sports for Coach Sloan: Today's Your Day to Be Great

·         Use of Video for An Officer’s Life at 5280: The Decision to Shoot
