The Denver Police Department has employed the use of Civilian Report Technicians (CRT) in order to expedite crime reporting services.
CRTs have been trained to investigate and officially document specific property based crimes with the same attention to detail as that of a Denver police officer. By utilizing the services of a CRT, Denver police officers will be able to increase their proactive patrol time and target higher priority calls for service.
CRTs complete a comprehensive civilian report technician training academy, work directly with a field training officer and are supervised by a Denver police investigative sergeant.
Wearing a tan polo shirt with black cargo-type pants, CRTs can be identified by an official city identification card that will be attached to a lanyard and worn around the neck. Business cards are available at all times. In addition, CRTs will drive a vehicle marked with the city logo.
