 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR)

The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) is a publication that provides in-depth information about the operations and financial position of the City and County of Denver to the City’s residents, its elected officials, management personnel, financial institutions, city bondholders, rating agencies, and all other parties interested in the financial affairs of the city.  The CAFR is prepared by the Controller's Office in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America (USGAAP) and is audited by a firm of licensed certified public accountants.

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the City for its CAFR for the year ended December 31, 2007.  The Certificate of Achievement is a national award recognizing conformance with the highest standards for preparation of state and local government financial reports.  This was the twenty-eighth consecutive year that the City has received this award.
