Heating cost assistance available for qualifying low-income families beginning Nov. 1, 2011

The Low-income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) is a heating cost assistance program that helps underserved families and individuals, many of whom are children, seniors and disabled, by paying a portion of their heating bill every November through April. This season, the City and County of Denver, Human Services agency is changing its application process for LEAP. Denver County now only accepts LEAP applications via mail, fax or through designated LEAP drop boxes stationed at every Denver Human Services office. 

Beginning Nov. 1, 2011, Denver County applicants can download an application at www.denvergov.org/leap, request it be sent by mail by calling   1-866-HEAT-HELP(432-8435) or visit a Human Services office. 

On or after Nov. 1, 2011, Denver County applicants may submit applications via:
  • Fax: 720-944-4899, or;
  • Mail: Denver LEAP, PO Box 40609, Denver CO 80204, or;
  • Drop Box located at all three Denver Human Services locations (1200 Federal Blvd.,
    3815 Steele St. and 4865 Peoria St.).

    Hotline counselors can offer free assistance in helping homeowners navigate the foreclosure process and can act as a facilitator between homeowners and their mortgage lenders.
