Candidate Statement

From driving a tractor for my father to serving as Colorado’s Lieutenant Governor, I learned to get up early and work hard every day. My life’s passion has been to strengthen public education and improve health care for all kids. I believe that every neighborhood should have great schools and all parents should be able to choose the right public school for their child’s success.

Over the years, I've worked on creating a system of high quality early childhood education, boosting third grade reading proficiency, expanding full day kindergarten, raising standards in every grade, linking high school to higher education through dual enrollment, funding school based health clinics, increased funding for public education and promoting the arts in education.

Denver deserves a strong leader on the DPS school board because we have a long way to go in guaranteeing that every family and every student has access to a quality public education.

I’m running for the at-large seat on the Denver Public Schools Board and I’d be honored to have your support.
