 Education Awards and Recognitions

Each year, the Mayor’s Office for Education and Children recognizes individuals and organizations within the Denver community through a variety of educational award programs in an effort to recognize outstanding efforts to support the education and development of Denver’s children and youth.  Each of the award programs has a unique criteria and selection process and does not accept nominations from the public unless requested. 

 

Denver's Great Kids Head Start Award
One staff person and one parent is selected from each of the five Head Start delegate agency providers to be recognized at an annual event each summer.

 

Heavy Lifting Award
A program to recognize outstanding individuals in the Denver community for their efforts to advance the well-being of Denver's children and youth. 

 

Mile High Scholars
An annual program to recognize exceptional Denver Public School students from each school.

 

Mile High Teachers
A recognition program held annually to acknowledge outstanding teachers from Denver Public Schools.

 

Mayor’s Youth Awards
An annual program to recognize teens that have overcome personal adversity and created positive change in their lives.

 

Mayor’s Early Childhood Education Commission Leadership Award
A program to recognize organizations that promote school readiness and support education programs that assist families with limited resources.
