Launched in 2005, Mile High Teachers is an annual tradition honoring Denver's most accomplished and inspiring educators. The event -- co hosted by Denver Public Schools and the City and County of Denver -- allows the community to shine a spotlight on exceptional teachers, whose impact on Denver's students -- our future leaders -- is profound.
Every Denver Public School is invited to participate in this voluntary program. Principals are encouraged to put together a small team of teachers, parents, and students to select the honorees.
- Establish a stimulating learning environment
- Foster the development of students' intellectual, social, emotional, or physical growth
- Demonstrate care and concern for the well-being of students and colleagues
The 2011-12 honorees were recognized in a citywide ceremony on Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Click here to watch the video. This year's event is made possible by the generosity of the presenting sponsor, Ashford University and by Denver Public Schools and the Denver Public Schools Foundation.
