Defensive Driving Classes
Defensive Driving Classes offered to all City employees who drive on city business. If you drive a personal vehicle, city vehicle assigned or checked out of the motor pool while completing specific job duties on city business, or duties as assigned, you are required by Executive Order No 3 to complete the training before you are allowed to drive and every three years after.

Training Objective
Motor vehicle accidents are the number one cause of occupational fatalities in the United States and it is estimated that over 100,000 workers are seriously injured in motor vehicle accidents each year.

The required Executive Order #3 Defensive Driving class offered by Risk Management Safety is for all employees who drive a personal vehicle or a city owned vehicle while completing job specific duties on city business or duties as assigned.

The multi-media classroom course is based on Executive Order #3, Fiscal Rule 10.5, 10.6, and 10.7 and will include the following:

  • Identify common causes and consequences of Motor Vehicle Accidents
  • Review basic Principles of Defensive Driving
  • Know when and how to apply basic Defensive Driving Skills 
  • Know what actions to take if you are involved in an accident

April 12, 2012 from 2:30-4:30 PM
April 25, 2012 from 9-11 AM
May 8, 2012 from 12-2 PM
May 30, 2012 from 12-2 PM
June 12, 2012 from 8:30-10:30 AM
June 28, 2012 from 2-4 PM

Classes will seat up to 50 people in each class. All classes to be held in the Clerk and Recorder's Board room on the first floor of the Webb Bldg, Room 1.B.6.
