Services for people who are homeless or who are at risk of losing their housing are available at our main office at the Denver Human Services building located at 1200 Federal Blvd, Denver, CO 80204 between 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday - Friday or you can call our customer service line at 720-944-3666 for more information.
Types of assistance that may be available:
General/Emergency Assistance and Housing/Shelter
Services are available to assist Denver County residents that are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Applicants must show proof that they have resided in Denver County for the past 30 days.
Food Vouchers/ Emergency Food
Grocery story food vouchers may be available to individuals whose food assistance benefits are unavailable due to department error or system issues.
One-time emergency pharmacy vouchers can be issued for mandatory prescriptions, if no other resource is available. The vouchers are issued to King Soopers pharmacies only. Narcotics are not eligible
RTD Bus Tickets
A one-way bus ticket may be issued to clients by General Assistance or Outreach staff
Greyhound bus tickets may be issued to homeless individuals to reunify with family in another city if the person meets eligibility requirements.
Eviction Assistance, Deposit, First Month’s Rent, Mortgage
Financial assistance is available to individuals and families who have a current verifiable emergency preventing them from paying their rent/mortgage if the person(s) are able to demonstrate the ability to maintain the unit.
Staff will assist homeless families, single women, those in need of respite, and the disabled with securing an emergency bed or room through the various shelter programs.
Respite beds are provided for homeless clients discharged from specific hospital when a referral is issued by a social worker or doctor.
Burial assistance is available to Denver residents that do not have sufficient funds for burial or cremation. Assistance is based on all resources and income.
Personal hygiene supplies are available on a limited basis.
