Denver Human Services and Jefferson County Human Services announced its partnership with Savio House as it implements SafeCare Colorado, an evidence-based model the Colorado Department of Human Services has embraced to build stronger families, while preventing child abuse and neglect.

At Denver Human Services, we are confident we have complied with all audit requests within the confines of current state and federal statute. Of the five recommendations made by the Denver Auditor's Office, we have fully embraced the two specific to practice within our agency and are moving forward with changes designed to improve service to our community. The final three recommendations are not under the purview of Denver Human Services. Any future changes in legal opinion or policy made by outside entities such as the City Attorney’s Office, the State Attorney General, and/or the State Legislature must be pursued outside of our agency.

United Launch Alliance presents the 2013 Denver Veterans Day Celebration, Run • Rejoice • Remember. The celebration will honor those who have served in the armed services at the Denver Veterans Day Celebration, Run • Rejoice • Remember, on Saturday, November 9 in downtown Denver. The event will kick off at with the Denver Veterans Day 5K race, followed by a parade and honor roll reading, and conclude with a celebration on Auraria Campus that will feature a variety of family-friendly activities.

The City and County of Denver and Denver’s Road Home are working hand-in-hand with homeless shelter providers to launch its Winter Overflow Shelter Operation, which will remain in effect through April 30.

Denver Human Services is deeply concerned when we hear about children being found in deplorable conditions and troubled that any child would have to endure neglect. As an agency of committed caseworkers and other professionals dedicated to helping children, any time we hear of child abuse and neglect, it has a saddening and sobering effect on our staff, and makes evident there is still work to be done in our community.
