|“Bags 4 Kids” Drive Aims to Make Transitions a Little Easier for Foster Youth
The Denver Human Services GIVE Denver program and Colorado Baggage launched the Bags 4 Kids Drive today in an effort to make sure foster youth have a duffel bag or suitcase to carry their belongings.
“There are occasions when foster youth must transition to another home,” Penny May, Denver Human Services Manager says. “Many times, youth put their belongings in plastic bags, which can be difficult and even more unsettling for youth who are already dealing with trauma. This drive helps with that transition by giving them the opportunity to carry their items in a comfortable and dignified way.”
The Bags 4 Kids Drive runs from May 21- July 22, 2012. Donors are encouraged to purchase and donate a new duffel bag or suitcase at any of the seven Colorado Baggage locations. To make a cash donation, please make checks payable to Denver Human Services and send to GIVE Denver, 1200 Federal Blvd, Denver, CO 80204.
“Colorado Baggage is happy to be a partner with GIVE Denver for this special luggage drive. It is our hope to brighten a foster child’s life by giving them a piece of luggage that they call their very own,” says Rachael Stiedemann, Marketing Director of Colorado Bag’n Baggage.
