Businesses sprinkle spring time love to help underserved kids

A group of employees from J. Herzog & Sons, Inc., a real estate investment and management company, volunteered at the GIVE Denver Center to assemble baskets filled with stuffed animals, coloring books, candy and toothbrushes for underserved children.

Social workers and child advocates at Denver Human Services nominated hundreds of foster and underserved youth to receive gift baskets through an annual spring basket drive carried out by GIVE Denver, a program of Denver Human Services.

“The families we help have little resources and often times parents struggle to afford basic necessity items,” GIVE Denver Program Director Toni Panetta said. “It’s wonderful to have businesses and other community partners collaborate with Denver Human Services to support some of the most vulnerable children in our city.”

“It’s wonderful to lend our time and resources to be part of this effort to bring a bit of springtime cheer to these children,” Karen House, J. Herzog & Sons, Inc. leasing coordinator said. “Plus, volunteering is a great team building exercise that enables us to give back to a great cause.”

Other businesses and organizations supporting the GIVE Denver Spring Basket Drive this year include Child Rescue Foundation, Delta Dental, Denver International Airport, Downtown’s Healthcare, Marsh Insurance, Mile Hi Church, Unity Church of Denver, Wise Women GIVE, a fund of The Denver Foundation and more.

Denver Human Services’ GIVE Denver program leverages volunteers, donations and community partnerships to connect children, the homeless, and other underserved populations with basic necessities and community services.
