Denver’s Road Home is opening a cold weather emergency overnight shelter for single women tonight at the Minoru Yasui building located at 303 W. Colfax Avenue, in partnership with Volunteers of America. The shelter will provide up to 50 mats and remain open nightly from 6 p.m. – 6 a.m. through April.

Denverite Dr. Nathan O’Neal was bestowed with the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. The award is given to individuals who have provided 2,500 or more service hours to the community during their lifetime. O’Neal was honored for his admirable work in helping fathers connect with their children thanks to his work with the Men Behaving Dadly program housed at Denver Human Services (DHS).

The City and County of DenverAuraria Campus, Denver United Veterans Council, Metropolitan State University of Denver Army ROTC and Colorado Tribute to Veterans are excited to host the United Launch Alliance “Run, Rejoice and Remember,” one of the largest and most diverse Veterans Day celebrations in the history of the city.  There will be several family-friendly events happening all day throughout downtown Denver to celebrate, honor and recognize our city and nation’s veterans.

The Denver County Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) officially kicked off the season today by hosting a Heating Fair at Denver Human Services. LEAP is a program committed to helping residents Nov. 1 – April 30.
